May 2023: Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is a national organization with a regional office in central Iowa that has had a local Carroll team for the last 6 years. It is a 10 week program, during which the girls meet with their coaches 2x/week and mix in movement with learning, with the end goal of running a 5k with girls across the state at the end of the 10 week program.
Donations go to the costs to run the program which include shirts, journals, bags and water bottles for each participating girl and practice site rental fees, as well as costs to organize and operate the 5K for several hundred girls at the end of the season. The 712 donation of $3500 offsets registration costs for three seasons for our local chapter!!
November 2023: St Anthony Nursing Home

Angelo Luis, Chaplin of St. Anthony Hospital, and Angie Potthoff, Activity Director for St. Anthony Nursing Home, are working on gathering funds to purchase a bus for the home to transport residents to and from activities and on outings. Today when needed they rent a Region XII bus, which not only costs money but has a lot of restrictions that make events difficult due to the need to unload and reload passengers, restricts eating on buses and limits the days of the week they can make outings.
An owned bus will provide more flexibility for the staff and residents, and help with quality of life for those residents currently unable to get out and about. The 712 group donated $3400 to this great cause.
